The artist had a few visions sketched out, but none of them seemed to fill her with inspiration. Tyler took a different approach with this piece and decided to start sketching what she wanted. This was a free flow painting and her intention was to fully immerse herself in the process. The artists goal was to get lost in her creativity because that is the place she finds herself. 
 
Tyler started with the cloud and the lighting bolt because that’s what she found herself doodling on the side of planners and notebooks that week. The sun and moon were added next, then she added earth. It was still missing something though. As she observed the canvas, there was a small part in between the sun and cloud and instantly saw the outline of a woman. 
 
This painting took her almost 2 weeks to complete. It was kind of hard to get into the flow. This happens sometimes with my art pieces. It can be difficult to imagine what it’s going to look like when it’s complete, so I decided to just trust the process. Tyler let it just “be” art. 
 
This piece is about surrendering to the process and letting go. A lot of times we want to cling onto how something is supposed to be, or we enter the endless search for uncovering the “why” in times of uncertainty. Anxiety is ruminating on things that are completely out of our control and living in the future, depression is living in the past and insanity is repeating the same things expecting different results. 
 
There are many times in the artists life where she found herself feeling “stuck” and not know what is next. In the digital age, we find ourselves glued to our devices. We often forget that nature is what helps us heal. If we take the time to sit with our outside surroundings, the peace that overtakes us beautiful. Something as simple as sitting next to a tree can break the chains of over consumption. It’s simple to do, but not always easy to remember. It’s just a matter of making the time to sit in solitude.
