Artist Statement:

I started this painting back in March. Life got busy and I found that my creative spark dimmed. I’ve been struggling with a stubborn artist block for the past couple of years.

The start of 2026 wasn’t very kind to me and God humbled me hard. For a while there I was in the dark and it felt like there was no way out. There were a lot sacrifices and hard decisions I had to make. Without pain there is no growth. It isn’t fun, but it’s necessary.

In the past couple of years I walked away from a various things. Bad habits, people that wanted to shove me in a box to keep me small & negative self talk/beliefs that I’ve had wired into my subconscious.

Often times we are harder on ourselves than anyone around us. This painting signifies how you see yourself versus how everyone else perceives you. Self love is an internal job and it’s the most important relationship you’ll ever have.

In the past couple of weeks, I had people compliment me by saying they liked my positive energy. At first I didn’t believe it because I was made out to feel like I was so negative. Here’s the thing, the people who know the old version of you often still see you as that wounded version. It’s important to not let other peoples projections define you. You can grow and you can get better. Sometimes people have a hard time accepting that you’ve changed. And that’s okay.

Maybe you are light. Maybe you are positive. You’re just consumed by your own internal chaotic chatter from time to time. Maybe you don’t see yourself like the real ones out there do. You are not the things you struggle with. You are not your mental health diagnoses. You are all of the good things that are GOOD about you. Sometimes we get so consumed in the fire, it’s hard to see the value we provide to the people around us. YOU ARE A LIGHT ✨☀️ be big, take up too much space & don’t be afraid to tell the world to f**k off from time to time.
