September is the month of suicide prevention awareness 💙💜
The artist got the vision of this piece while working on a different painting. In early September, Tyler was listening to a therapists podcast. The therapist was talking about how joy & sadness are very similar emotions. He talked about crying while seeing a beautiful sunset (tears of joy). She never thought about it like that because they seem to be such polar opposite emotions.
Joy is fleeting. It’s not possible to be happy all the time. This is an emotion that the artist struggles to obtain because she feels sadness a lot. It’s just how some of our brains are wired. Tyler is a deep thinker and a deep feeler. She pours her emotion into her art work because as an artist, that’s how she feels understood… by expressing it without words.
When you struggle with major depressive disorder, it feels like a living hell when you get sucked in. You can try all of the self help things, but you never get to pick what day it hits you. Some days you just feel so numb inside.
Tyler paints a lot of mushrooms because they’re cute (LOL) & they are full of vitamin D. A lot of people with depression have a vitamin D deficiency. The black and white dripping off of the mushrooms is sadness leaving the body & filling the body with joy. The eye represents how hidden this illness can be. Some of the most successful & powerful people are the ones who you would never guess are the ones hiding it the best.
This is called symmetry. You can’t have sadness without joy & you can’t have joy without sadness 🌊☀️✨ I see you 🫶
This is called “Symmetry”.
Several hours were invested into this piece.
A clear satin semi-gloss finish was used to protect this piece.
