When Tyler first had the vision of this piece, she saw a brain and a heart. It represents the constant battle between the mind and the heart. The whole theme and intention was to portray how too much social media consumption can rot our brains. The artist only had one magazine at home. When she opened it, instant chills consumed her due to the countless articles in regard to social media consumption. That part was not planned at all. At this point, Tyler knew intuitively that she was meant to create this work of art.
Whatever you consume is what fills you. That is why there is black dripping from the top. It represents the toxicity it can cause, leading to isolation and disconnection from the real world. We often forget to touch grass and sit in the sun.
The world is so noisy when your eyes are glued to your device. The brain and the heart are outlined in gold to represent how valuable these organs are. They are vital to survival. In silver, I outlined people running to represent running from themselves. No matter how fast you run, your shadow is always behind you. It never goes away as long as you are breathing.
The rain droplets represent the importance of water. Without it, we couldn't survive. We get so wrapped up in the stressors of life, that we forget to take care of ourselves. This is your reminder to drink your D@mn water! LOL. It also represents the effect of the storms we have in life. There is no manual to this thing called life.
Tyler poured all of her emotion into this piece. She wanted to create something different... something truly relatable. She visited an art museum in Bali, Indonesia called the Blanco Renaissance Museum, with a stranger from Columbia. This was the artists first time touring an art museum. Antonio Blanco was the name of the artist who created these mixed media masterpieces. His paintings were beautiful and he inspired Tyler to get back into mixed media art. The artists mom Missy, also created a lot of mixed media art.
Antonio Blanco was an immigrant from the Philippines. When Antonio moved to Bali, he was robbed of everything. The King of Ubud saw his talent and gifted him land. That is where he built his art studio. His muse/wife was a Balinese dancer. This story inspired her because it only takes one person to see your potential that could change your entire life.
